The Symposium on Software Engineering in Africa (SEiA) is a forum for researchers, innovators, and leading professionals to discuss the state and future of software engineering in Africa. SEiA 2018 has been organized with the purpose of increasing participation of researchers from Africa in international Software Engineering community. The event provides a platform for exchanging ideas on the role of software engineering in socio-economic development of the continent, the future directions of software engineering research and education in Africa, creating networks with the global software engineering community, and sharing exciting results with the global community.
The SEiA 2018 track will include keynote talks from prominent software engineering professionals, entrepreneurs, innovators and researchers; experience and scientific paper presentations; demonstrations; posters; and focussed meetings.

Motivation
The Symposium on Software Engineering in Africa (SEiA) is a forum for researchers, innovators, and leading professionals to discuss the state and future of software engineering in Africa. The event provides a platform for exchanging ideas on the role of software engineering in socio-economic development of the continent, the future directions of software engineering research and education in Africa, creating networks with the global software engineering community, and sharing exciting results with the global community.

Evaluation
All submissions will be rigorously peer-reviewed by members of SEiA 2018 Program Committee. Submissions must be original and not have been previously published or currently under review elsewhere. Submissions will be evaluated based on the scientific quality, relevance for the African continent as well as global software engineering community, significance, and quality of presentation.

Submission
Submissions must be submitted online via the SEiA 2018 EasyChair conference management system and conform to the ICSE/ACM formatting guidelines. For MS Word users: Use ACM_SigConf.docx example file as a template. Additional instructions about formatting, if you need, you can find at NEW ACM formatting guidelines. For LaTex users: Use NEW ACM formatting guidelines. Upon unzipping the zip file, run ‘make all’. This will produce the acmart.cls file. You should use the conference format described in sample-sigconf.tex to format your paper. Your submission should be in PDF. Paper length must not exceed 10 pages for full papers and 4 pages for short papers/posters. Accepted papers will be published in the ICSE 2018 Companion Proceedings and in the ACM and IEEE digital libraries The official publication date is the date the proceedings are made available in the ACM Digital Library. This date may be up to two weeks prior to the first day of ICSE 2018. The official publication date affects the deadline for any patent filings related to published work. Purchases of additional pages in the proceedings is not allowed. Accepted papers must be presented in person at the symposium by at least one of the authors.
